About Us

The Dacca Institute of Research and Analytics (daira) is a Dhaka-based institution dedicated to knowledge production and the development of a critical understanding of the socio-political, economic, and cultural dynamics of Bengal, particularly present-day Bangladesh, within both regional and global contexts.
Its aim is to foster new ways of seeing, develop intellectual tools, and create a new school of thought inspired by anti-colonial, anti-fascist, and anti-autocratic movements in Bengal and across the world. daira also contributes to the discursive traditions that explore and situate Bengal and Bangladesh's evolving role in history and their future possibilities.
Operating with a commitment to academic rigor, objectivity, pragmatism, and independence, daira examines critical issues such as governance, society, culture, economy, and geopolitics. It also contributes to policy-making and advocacy efforts that address contemporary challenges facing Bengal and Bangladesh.
